Sokol Blosser Winery Debuts a Fresh Look

New Labels Showcase the Land and the Stories Behind the Wines

Dayton, OR, Jan. 22, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sokol Blosser, one of Oregon’s original and most iconic wineries, is launching an exciting new look for their portfolio of estate wines, with a bold new contemporary look that reflects the winery and the wines inside each bottle.

“Our goal has always been to connect people with each other and our story,” said Sokol Blosser CEO, Co-President and second-generation winegrower, Alison Sokol Blosser. “With these new labels, we’re telling the story behind each wine with both pictures and words. We want our wines to look as modern and innovative as the rest of Sokol Blosser, from our new tasting room to our organic farming and winemaking methods and our stewardship of the land.”

The new labels feature an updated Sokol Blosser logo and specially commissioned pen-and-ink drawings that reflect the sense of place behind each wine. The back labels tell the Sokol Blosser story, explain the terroir and the winemaking and offer tasting notes for each wine. “We wanted to make it easier to visually differentiate our wines and help those who enjoy our wines better understand where the wines come from, and our family’s story,” added Sokol Blosser.

As explained on the label for Sokol Blosser’s flagship Dundee Hills Estate Pinot Noir, featuring a drawing of the winery’s quintessential red farm house set among the vineyards, the wine is the result of “our unique hillside climates, volcanic Jory soil, carefully chosen grape clusters, 17 months of French oak aging, and a singular approach to winemaking perfected over 40 years. The outcome is flavors of black cherry and raspberry mingling with earth and truffle.”

To design these new labels, Sokol Blosser worked with Allied Works, an architecture and design practice founded on conversation, collaboration and exploration of ideas. The collaboration between Allied Works and Sokol Blosser began with the design and construction of Sokol Blosser’s sleek, contemporary new tasting room opened in 2013, and has continued through the design of the new labels. This long-term partnership gave Allied Works unique insights into the land, the wines, and the family’s vision for the winery’s future.

The new label for Sokol Blosser’s Estate Rosé of Pinot Noir features the tasting room designed by Allied Works, and tells the story of how “The sedimentary Missoula flood soil is ideal for growing the pinot noir grapes used to craft this intentionally-made, delicate Rosé.” The label for Pinot Gris, Sokol Blosser’s flagship white wine, features the panoramic view of Mount Hood visible from the winery estate and describes “…the ancient volcanic soils and temperate weather of Oregon’s Willamette Valley.”

The new label design extends across the entire Sokol Blosser portfolio, including the new Bluebird Cuvée Sparkling (launched Fall 2018), Big Tree and Orchard Block Pinot Noirs, and six other single block estate pinot noirs available exclusively at the winery.

About Sokol Blosser Winery

In 1971, the Sokol Blosser family planted grapes on just five acres in the Dundee Hills. The winery produces pinot noir, pinot gris, chardonnay, riesling and small quantities of single block pinot noir and sparkling wines under its Sokol Blosser brand name, as well as a white blend, red blend, pinot noir, sparkling wine, riesling, and chardonnay under the Evolution label.
