Minneapolis, Jan. 24, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BLM Technologies, a leading single-source provider of complete technology solutions that include imaging, payment, transaction, and other financial institution hardware, digital signage, repair and maintenance, and information technology services, now offers the all-new Canon imageFORMULA CR-L1 compact check transport/scanner. The CR-L1 allows financial institutions to seamlessly provide its RDC and remote lockbox customers a versatile check scanner of the quality and security for which Canon is well known.
This compact and extremely functional device can replace the formerly popular Canon imageFORMULA CR-50 check transport scanner, which has been discontinued. Among the least expensive of the multi-feed scanners on the market, the CR-L1 scanner runs up to 45 checks per minute with a 50-doc feeder and 50-doc hopper. And the CR-L1 scanner comes with an industry-leading one-year advanced unit exchange (AUE) warranty.
Equally important for RDC customers upgrading from prior Canon scanners is that the drivers that run the CR-L1 scanner are compatible with CR-50/80 legacy scanners. The CR-L1 scanner driver emulates the CR-50/80 scanners, enabling compatibility with existing RDC software that used the CR-50/80 scanners.
“Our customers rely on a small, inexpensive, but functional check scanner like the Canon imageFORMULA CR-L1 to serve thousands of remote deposit capture (RDC) customers,” reports John Tauer, VP of Sales at BLM Technologies. “The discontinued Canon CR-50s and CR-80s were among our best-selling RDC scanners, so we’re happy to offer this new scanner. Our goal is to offer our customers a wider range of options for technology solutions, so they receive exactly the device they need to fit their business and budget requirements.”
The Canon imageFORMULA CR-L1 scanner joins other models in this product category commonly offered by financial institutions for their RDC and remote lockbox customers, including the Epson CaptureOne 30, Digital Check TS240-50 and SmartSource Elite 55, and Panini VX50.
Financial institutions have deployed more than 1.5 million desktop scanners for RDC, according to a Deluxe Corporation report. In fact, an estimated 80 million businesses and retailers rely on remote deposit capture, first legalized in 2004, according to a study published by Celent in 2017.
In exchange for the convenience of RDC, retailers and businesses pay fees to their bank for the service. These fees are a significant source of revenue for the financial institution.
The Canon imageFORMULA CR-L1 compact check transport/scanner is available immediately from BLM Technologies, a Canon Gold Premier Partner.
