LEXINGTON, Mass., Feb. 13, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- FamilyID announced today that all 12 Regional Information Centers (RICs), organized under and administratively aligned with New York’s 37 Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), will offer the FamilyID online registration platform to the districts they serve. FamilyID is the only online registration platform for programs and activities to be supported by all RICs and BOCES throughout New York State.
The approval process included a review of FamilyID’s data privacy and data security policies and practices, its adherence to the New York State Education Department Student Data Privacy Bill of Rights (Parents’ Bill of Rights), as well as requests and reviews from New York schools. “We are proud that FamilyID meets these high standards for technology and customer satisfaction,” said Rochelle Nemrow, Founder and CEO of FamilyID, “and we are thrilled that every school district throughout the state that is served by a BOCES can now purchase FamilyID as a supported service.”
FamilyID transforms the cumbersome and error-prone process of collecting and managing registration information and payments into an intuitive one-stop online registration solution, reducing paperwork and giving school officials real-time access to critical data. FamilyID solves in-depth and data-intensive registration processes, like registration for New York state school athletics. FamilyID allows schools to easily collect the extensive health history and parent permissions that are required within their allotted 30-day window, manage compliance and eligibility, and securely share data with athletic department administrators, nurses and coaches. Families can access and update their information at any time and can reuse their information across multiple programs and organizations. FamilyID is used by thousands of schools to provide nearly 1.5 million families with the convenience of online registration for sports, clubs, programs, activities and more.
New York State’s RICs provide administrative and instructional technology services to 1.5 million students in 700 school districts across the state. Regionalizing these services makes a wider range of technology available. The relationship between RICs and school districts increases each individual district’s buying power and promotes consistent technical standards. This cost-effective system lightens the burden on local taxpayers and has leveled the playing field, so that the best resources remain within reach for New York students no matter the size of a district.
Through the RICs, the BOCES provide many services to their component districts that the districts might not be able to otherwise afford. The RICs/BOCES will aid funding of FamilyID for schools in districts across the state as one of the many technology solutions they make available to schools. Offering FamilyID online registration to all its RIC-supported school districts demonstrates the commitment of the BOCES to the communities they serve.
