2019 Aces of Finance – Names of Finalists Announced

MONTREAL, Feb. 26, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Quebec Chapter of FEI Canada, the all-industry professional association for senior financial executives, announces the names of the finalists in its 2019 Aces of Finance competition. Candidacies were considered in three categories: Financial executive of a large corporation, Financial executive of a small or medium-sized enterprise and Emerging financial executive. The finalists will be rigorously assessed by an independent jury who will select this year’s winners. All finalists and winners will be honoured at a gala evening on May 8.

Here are the 2019 finalists by category:

“Financial executive of a large corporation” category

“Financial executive of a small or medium-sized enterprise” category

• Guillaume Laverdure, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Medicom Group
• Johanne Bélanger, CPA, CA, Chief Financial Officer, Solmax
• Roland Ribotti, MBA, CFA, Chief Financial Officer, Behaviour Interactive

“Emerging financial executive” category

• David Tremblay, CPA, CA, Director IT Finance, Intact Financial Corporation
• Dominic Grimard, CPA, CA, Vice President, Finance, Fiera Capital
• Pierre-Marc Sarrazin, M.Sc., CFA, Vice President, Corporate Finance & Treasury, Ovivo

Putting finance in the spotlight
This year’s competition is presided over by Claude Séguin, Chair of the Board of Directors, Fonds de solidarité FTQ. The competition was open to all chief financial officers, vice presidents of finance and senior financial executives across Quebec.

The aim of the Aces of Finance competition is to discover and recognize the professional achievements and community involvement of outstanding financial executives, underline their crucial role and highlight their strategic contribution to their organization’s performance.

2019 Homage Award
At the gala on May 8, the Aces of Finance Homage Award will also be presented to a financial executive who has demonstrated longstanding career achievement. The recipient of this year’s prestigious award is Michael Hanley, a financial executive who has personified excellence throughout his career. His list of accomplishments includes strategic financial executive positions at such reputable organizations as National Bank of Canada, Alcan, Bauxite and Alumina, Gaz Métro and St. Laurent Paperboard. Today, Mr. Hanley is a corporate director, sitting on the boards of BRP, Industrial Alliance Insurance & Financial Services and Shawcor, as well as chairing their audit committees.

A gala to celebrate our financial executives
The Quebec Chapter of FEI Canada has put together for the 9th year a special gala evening with a celebratory atmosphere. The highlights, of course, will be the showcasing of the finalists and the announcement of the three winners of the 2019 Aces of Finance competition.
