SAN DIEGO, April 15, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- California-based investment firm Wilshire Quinn Capital announced today its launch of the Wilshire Quinn Musical Arts Scholarship, a $10,000 award for aspiring musicians enrolled in a U.S. university or college. One winner will be selected based on application criteria, and the funds will be applied directly toward tuition.
The new scholarship strikes a chord with Wilshire Quinn’s CEO and Chief Investment Officer, Christopher M. Garcia, who has had a lifelong interest in music. “Music is truly a universal language, and has the power to unite and inspire people from all walks of life,” Garcia says. “I’ve always admired a musician’s ability to create a song that can define a generation. These young artists represent the future, and are placed under so much financial pressure to pay for school. This is a small way to offer some relief.”
Garcia founded Wilshire Quinn Capital in 2004, and has overseen the growth of the Wilshire Quinn Income Fund, a privately held investment fund that has evolved into one of California’s premier private money lending institutions. The Wilshire Quinn Musical Arts Scholarship is the most recent manifestation of the firm’s lasting dedication to community service.
Interested students must submit a short personal statement, along with a recorded three-minute musical performance. The award is open to students of all musical genres. The scholarship committee will assess candidates based on talent, passion, work ethic and financial hardship.
