NEW YORK, April 29, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- King & Spalding announced today that Peter Montoni, former associate general counsel at Antares Capital, has joined as a partner in the firm’s Corporate, Finance and Investments (CFI) practice group in its New York office.
Montoni spent nearly four years at Antares, a lender for middle-market, private equity-backed transactions, and before that more than nine years as senior and executive counsel at GE Capital, which owned and then sold Antares to the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board in 2015.
“Peter’s unique skillset and perspective will be invaluable to clients, given his understanding of how in-house and outside counsel can successfully collaborate,” said Todd Holleman, head of the firm’s CFI practice group. “His ability to maximize recoveries and develop solutions for challenging issues deepens our restructuring capabilities.”
Montoni counseled deal teams on large and complicated restructurings involving offensive and defensive DIP and second lien and subordinated debt financings, 363 sales, lender credit bid acquisitions, balance sheet recapitalizations, pre-negotiated or pre-arranged plans of reorganization, retail financing workouts and liquidations, debt-for-equity swaps, and commencement of foreclosure and receivership actions.

Montoni has also advised senior management and deal team members on structuring, documenting, and negotiating financial transactions across several business sectors, including manufacturing, media, retail, and service industries. He has analyzed business plans, budgets, and projections for deals, as well as developed and administered training on legal developments and procedural guidelines for his former employers’ lending businesses.
Prior to going in-house, he was an associate in the finance and financial restructuring departments at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. Montoni received his undergraduate degree from Hofstra University and his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law.
