Bowling Green, KY, May 20, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tom Ferree, Chairman & CEO, Connected Nation, was named to the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) re-chartered Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee (BDAC). The committee’s mission will be to make recommendations on how to accelerate the deployment of high-speed internet access.
“I’m honored to be named among the distinguished professionals who are taking part in this important advisory group,” said Ferree. “Connected Nation has worked for nearly two decades to bridge the Digital Divide that continues to hurt so many families, children, senior citizens, veterans, military spouses, and others. I’m excited that the FCC sees and understands the need to move this work forward with urgency, and I’m eager to work with other industry leaders as we identify solutions and innovative ways to connect more American households and businesses—giving them access to the opportunities and resources that many of us already enjoy.”
“I would like to thank Chairman Pai for his confidence in me and our organization’s experience in this space. I am looking forward to working together to find ways to expand broadband access to more Americans in both rural and urban settings.”
Members of the re-chartered committee include representatives from providers, nonprofits, and government associations. According to the FCC’s website, “this Committee is intended to provide an effective means for stakeholders with interests in this area to exchange ideas and develop recommendations for the Commission, which will in turn enhance the Commission's ability to carry out its statutory responsibility to encourage broadband deployment to all Americans.”
