WESTMINSTER, Colo., May 21, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nick Harvill, of ACH Foam Technologies has been in molded polystyrene sales for almost 40 years and understands that success in commercial construction is about providing value that extends beyond merely supplying products on request.
“In college I studied Civil and Architectural Engineering Technology and I’ve been learning in the field ever since,” says Harvill who enjoys the challenge of analyzing projects and finding molded polystyrene solutions to challenges. By building relationships and helping solve problems, Harvill, and other ACH Foam Technologies sales representatives around the country, strive to go the extra mile to understand each project’s particulars to produce a precise purchase order. When Harvill was contacted by HD Supply on a seemingly simple Geofoam floor elevation fill for a Dave and Busters in Marietta, Georgia, he thought a site visit would be a wise investment.
“I noticed almost immediately the floors had an elliptical slope to them,” says Harvill of his first reaction upon walking the job site. “The way they were trying to order the material would have been a disaster.” Harvill recommended a floor scan survey to better understand the elevations. Using a combination of tapers with varying slopes and flat panels to create a level base, the remaining void was filled with large blocks of molded polystyrene.
Easy to maneuver in tight, hard to access spaces, lightweight Foam-Control Geofoam molded polystyrene is hard to beat on performance. Foam-Control Geofoam blocks can be as large a 4-feet wide by between 8- and 16- feet long and up to 3-feet thick. Blocks come in seven different structural grades ranging from 2.2 pounds per square inch (psi) up to 18.6 psi.
“In addition to being able to fill the void to a level plane, Geofoam is very easy to customize on site,” says Harvill. Compensating for the intricate plumbing, electrical, and mechanical conduit snaking through Dave and Buster’s floor was fast and easy using a hot wire cutter to make recesses and chases in the foam.
For more than four decades, ACH Foam Technologies has been an industry leader in molded polystyrene manufacturing, providing architectural insulation, geofoam, protective packaging, cold chain packaging, and OEM components.
