Boston, MA, July 24, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 26th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Children’s Hospital Bernice & Philip Frieze Family Support Fund took place on Monday, July 15, 2018 at the Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, Massachusetts.  The tournament benefited the Children’s Hospital Bernice & Philip Frieze Family Support Fund which was founded in 1974 to assist needy families with travel, accommodations, and other essentials associated with their child’s treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital.  Thousands of parents have been financially supported by this special fund since its founding.

The tournament has raised over four million dollars for the fund since the tournament’s inception in 1994.  This year’s tournament raised over $440,000 for the Fund.  Video and photographs of the event can be found at https://www.gordonbrothers.com/community/2019-community-events/frieze-golf-2019.

“My parents, Bernice and Phillip, started this fund over 45 years ago.  We are proud to honor their legacy with the 26th year of this tournament,” said Michael Frieze, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Gordon Brothers and Chairman of the 2019 tournament.  “Giving back to the community is a major priority for the firm and our family.  We are grateful to donors, sponsors, and our own employees who have all contributed to make this event a success year after year.”

The tournament and fund benefit more than 500 families each year that must temporarily relocate to seek treatment for a sick child at Boston Children’s Hospital or for whom significant disruption occurs in the form of the interruption of employment and child care.  Support comes in the form of assistance with housing, food, childcare, and transportation expenses.  For information on how to contribute, please contact Ann Merrill at golf@gordonbrothers.com or visit https://www.berniceandphilipfriezefund.org.  For more information on how to further support the Boston Children’s Hospital please visit http://www.childrenshospital.org.

About the Bernice & Philip Frieze Family Support Fund
The Bernice & Philip Frieze Family Support Fund (“The Fund”) was established by Bernice and Philip Frieze as a result of their personal commitment to Boston Children’s Hospital. The Fund was established to provide financial and emotional support to families facing the “hidden costs” of a child’s illness and hospitalization.  The Fund provides a small measure of relief as patient families try to keep up with the extraordinary needs from indirect expenses of diagnosis, treatment and hospitalization, and assists with rent, groceries and food, clothing, transportation, and childcare needs.
