"Virtual Time Machine" honored for superior Web development


Ann Arbor, MI, Nov. 1, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Enlighten announced today that WhatWasThere, an image-based geographic history of the world and "virtual time machine," has been honored with a 2011 W3 Award. WhatWasThere.com endeavors to celebrate our present and preserve our past by harnessing the collective knowledge of Internet users and the power of Google Street View.

This is the 6th W3 Awards win for Enlighten work to date, with past sites honored including John Frieda®, Hunter Douglas, and Fruit2O. Judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, which is comprised of leading media, interactive, advertising and marketing professionals, the W3 Awards competition highlights "the best of the Web." Website entries are evaluated for creativity, usability, navigation, functionality, visual design and ease of use. WhatWasThere was named a Website winner in the Charitable Organizations/Non-Profit category and also recently won a 2011 WebAward for Outstanding Achievement in Web Development.
