BEDFORD, Mass., July 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SoundBite Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:SDBT) today announced the election of Jill Smith to its board of directors. Ms. Smith fills the recent vacancy created by the resignation of Eric Giler.

In addition to joining the SoundBite board, Smith will assume the role of chair of the nominating and corporate governance committee. Vernon Lobo, the current nominating and corporate governance chair, will succeed Giler as chair of the compensation committee.
Most recently, Smith was the chairman and chief executive officer of DigitalGlobe, a publicly-traded satellite imagery and information company. Prior to DigitalGlobe, Smith served as the president and CEO for eDial, a private, voice-over-IP collaboration company, as the EVP and COO of publicly-traded Micron Electronics, and president and CEO of SRDS. Smith's early career included a partner at Bain & Company, and co-founding an investment and a consulting firm.
Smith currently serves as a director and as a member on the audit and compliance committees at Elster (NYSE:ELT), an energy metering and smart grid solutions company. She is also a member of the executive committee for the Women's Cancer Program at Dana Farber Hospital, and a member of the board of trustees for The Rashi School.
Smith earned her MSc from MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, MA.
