New York, June 24, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Definition 6 received three statuettes at the 41st Daytime Emmy Awards for work on the PBS show "Sesame Street." The honors mark the fourth consecutive year of wins for Senior Editor John Tierney and the third consecutive year of wins for Senior Audio Engineer Michael Barrett, bringing the combined total to 16 Emmys awarded to the Definition 6 team for work on "Sesame Street."
Definition 6's Senior Editor John Tierney received the Daytime Emmy for "Outstanding Achievement in Multiple Camera Editing" for "Sesame Street" for the fourth consecutive year. This is Tierney's 13th Emmy win and 11th Emmy received for work on "Sesame Street." Tierney previously won two Emmys for Square One TV, a highly acclaimed Sesame Workshop program.
Definition 6's Senior Audio Engineer Michael Barrett received two Daytime Emmy awards for "Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing - Live Action" and "Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing - Live Action" for work on "Sesame Street." This is the third consecutive year Barrett has won Emmy awards for a total of five received for his work on "Sesame Street."
Tierney was a co-founder of Manhattan-based Creative Bubble, an industry leader in post-production, motion design, and audio engineering acquired by Definition 6 in 2009. With a career spanning over 35 years in the industry, Tierney has brought his legendary talent to over 75 broadcast shows and hundreds of commercials. Coors, First National Bank, IKEA, Polaroid, HBO's "The Sopranos," The Travel Channel and The Washington Post are just a few of his spot credits.
Barrett has also been with the team since joining Creative Bubble in 2003. His work ranges from mixing long format shows like Michael Moore's "The Awful Truth," Comedy Central's "Upright Citizen's Brigade," and "Stranger's With Candy" to high profile sports sound design and mixing for Monday Night Football and Super Bowl XXXIII and XL. Barrett has extensive experience with short format as well, working with Nickelodeon, Showtime, Comedy Central, Oxygen, Food Network, USA, HBO and other top networks.
